A great bass line is like a fine wine or an artistic masterpiece that gets better with age! My Picassos include a diverse collection of "masters of the low end"... In the early days, I was inspired by the melodic bass lines painted by Paul McCartney, Geddy Lee, Gary Thain, Chris Squire and Roger Glover. Then, I discovered the virtuosity of Stanley Clarke, Ralphe Armstrong and Jaco Pastorius as the bass stepped forward into spotlight. During the 80's and 90's, I gravitated toward the exceptional work of studio bassists like David Hungate, Leland Sklar, Jimmy Johnson and Michael Rhodes, and fell in love with the iconic Motown groove master, James Jamerson. During the past ten years, I was blown away by the musicality and extraordinary skills displayed by visionaries like Victor Wooten, Billy Sheehan, Trip Walmsley, Stu Hamm and Mark Harris (of my favorite band, the phenomenal Venice). Since the NS/Stick became my new voice, I am heavily influenced by my favorite Stickists: Tom Griesgraber, Steve Adelson and my friend and mentor, Don Schiff, simply one of the most gifted musicians in the world.

Growing up in rural Pennsylvania, I have played electric bass since the early 70's.  Little did I know at the time that the bass guitar was still a “teenager” itself having been introduced on a mass basis by Leo Fender during the mid 50's.

jamieIn 1976, I read about Leo Fender's new Musicman Stingray Bass in a magazine, ordered one sight unseen from a local music store and awaited its arrival in early 1977. I still play my Stingray today and it became the standard of the industry.

Fast forward to 2006 - my keen eye for innovation led me to the NS/Stick, a combination bass, baritone guitar and synthesizer that was created by Emmett Chapman (inventor of the Chapman Stick) and Legendary bass innovator Ned Steinberger. I also proudly endorse Kahler Tremolo Systems designed by my friend, the iconic Gary Kahler.

From June 2006 through February 2009, I performed with Southern California's premier contemporary country show band, The Ranch Rockers, and was the house bassist for the Temecula Live and Country At The Merc country music reviews. Currently I perform with San Diego Trop Rocker, Charlie Imes and record with Florida Christian artist, Gary Ward.
